Ghost-hunters :-P

Lorelai decided this evening that I needed to wear my Ally McBeal heals, so I'm writing this post in them.
Fig is staring at me and L just informed me that she wants to pee in the grass (a symptom of spending the evening with her friend E last night).  My house is a little crazy.

Last night we took two 3ish year olds along with us on a walking ghost tour of downtown.  I don't think the other two innocent bystanders on the tour with us expected such mayhem, but it was informative and entertaining.  The ghostly pictures were sparse but I did take some mediocre pictures of downtown.

Pack Square

The Jackson Building and its Bullseye sidewalk

At this stop, L looked in the fence and said "I wanna see I wanna see, she's singing". . . there was no one there.

Mayhem:

Creepy picture but no ghosties.

When we got back to our building, I finally got an orb (between the 3rd and 4th window on the left side)
I think the ghosts here are just used to L's crazy noises.

Awesome 3ish year old hug.

Finally, the picture below is evidence for all of you that we have our almost 3 year old doing manual labor. . .

while looking awesome.

I promise some quilty stuff tomorrow.

Pretties

I kept waiting to write this post.  Trying to finish things so that I could do a big reveal.  Well I did (sortof) finish one project:
From Modern Patchwork-2012
I'm so stoked about my queen-size version.  Quilted pictures to follow soon.

I also got started quilting a customer quilt that I have been staring at for weeks. . .

Ron found the pattern.

I got alot of the middle done.  I'm pretty stoked with it so far.

Sleepiest day all week!

But we were still productive. . . sort of.  Look what that crafty Ron did:
Yep that's a vintage spool.  Watch for Battle Square Beacons, coming to a store near you :-P

Wednesdays

Remember this frame?

Now it is this nifty new chalkboard sign.  Thanks for your help Ron and Lorelai.

I need to quilt but all I want to do is make stuff out of our awesome organics. . .

1st Week of Summer Break

This past week has been so BUSY! I've been playing catchup at work and we've been replacing the carpet in all our bedrooms with laminate. (That will be it's own post). Of course I've tried to start 40 projects all at the same time. Today's post is going to be mainly pictures.

Early in the week I got a little quilting done, including this gorgeous Morris and Company Ribbon Quilt.

Using this sheet of plywood, 4 casters, and pieces from this bookshelf. . .

I made a trundle bed!

I found 2 of these neat $10 frames at the Habitat Store and am working on a new sign for the shop.

Sunday was mother's day and also upcycling day.  No one came for the workshop, but I made a pillow anyway.
I also have a new idea for a shades of green quilt.

During her nap on Sunday (after pillows) I finally finished Lorelai's cape!
Thanks Kitsch and Waechter's for having such awesome fabric and The Button Florist for making delightful buttons.

Today was the first day of L's summer with Mom (me).  She did some serious photography and helped me paint a cabinet.

Big Love Sunday

We've had a quiet weekend.  I'm recovering from the craziness of a t-shirt quilt and final exams week and mom is nursing a headache.  So today, instead of quilting like I should I have been I slept in, made a skirt, and took L and Nee to the Big Love Fest in Asheville.  It was so beautiful and inspiring!  And fun:

Then we went back to the store and I finished getting ready for our first upcycling workshop.  We only had one participant, but it was fun and low key which was perfect for a Sunday.  Here's my skirt.  Now I have to make myself an awesome black tank with flower to wear with it.

First Time!

I'm so excited to to start this blog!  I've been thinking about it for awhile, but a customer came in today and spurred me to it.  Expect mostly quilting and sewing with a smattering of cute kid and garden pics thrown in for good measure.

I am adding to my list of projects.  I've decided to start my first art quilt.  Or at least art-y.  The other day I got a wild hair and took a bunch of pics in my yard.  I think this one:

Will translate really well into a quilt.  Stay tuned.
